Secondary Offering
A secondary offering involves the sale of securities (typically common stock) by a company that already has publicly traded stock. Secondary offerings can include newly issued shares by the company, as well as shares sold by one or more existing shareholders of the issuing company. In the latter, the underwriting proceeds are paid to the stockholders, rather than the corporation.
